Country 30: Cameroon
Another African country. And typically always a country that I forgot when I was doing the Sporcle 'countries of the world' quiz. I hadn't really heard of Cameroon before, not until the FIFA Women's World Cup competition last year. I just remember that Cameroon had a team and not really knowing where Cameroon was.
Some facts about Cameroon:
Some facts about Cameroon:
- There are about 230 languages spoken in Cameroon.
- Cameroon has a waterfall that falls directly into the ocean - there are only 2 other countries in Africa that has the same!
- It is roughly the same size as Spain, but with half the population.
After quite a lot of meals from landlocked African countries it was quite nice to cook from a nation that bordered the sea, as it meant that I was able to have fish again. I think vegetarians would struggle a bit more in Cameroon, but pescatarians probably wouldn't have the same complications as fish is quite abundant.
On the menu today we have:
- African fish roll - a street food snack made from sardines wrapped in dough and deep fried.
- Njama njama - leafy greens very common to Cameroon.
