Country 2: Albania
Country number two on my list is Albania. This is a country that I have never been to but desperately dream to visit. It was on my travel list for 2020 – given Covid19 I highly doubt I will get there, but it’ll be a nice-to-visit eventually. I’ve heard that it has the same crystal clear coastline as Greece and Croatia, with half the tourists and half the cost.
I have ventured to some of the Balkan countries and knew roughly what to expect from the cuisine, although when I was there I ate meat, and had absolutely no idea how people would cook some of the things that I ate. That doesn’t mean that one country has identical food to their neighbours, but some of the meals I found were very familiar to what I had eaten in the past.
Another thing I found was that the food incorporated simple ingredients that are easily found in our supermarkets. And maybe that’s not the case for every dish, but certainly the ones that I tried my hand at all used common enough ingredients. I’m relieved, because anything too far away from home won’t be happening considering as I can’t really leave the general area I live in! Thank you again, covid19.
